Care & Wash Instructions

Our products are ready to use

Many of us are used to washing new products before first use to remove excess color and chemical additives. This step is not necessary when you buy a product from Nsleep, since we use no chemicals or additives whatsoever.

If you want to give a new duvet or pillow some extra "fluff" you can just give it a quick ride in the dry tumbler, but it is not necessary.

The Magic Dry Tumble

Caring for your Nsleep products is very easy thanks to Kapok's natural super powers. Bacteria and dust mites are quite simply unable to survive and grow within kapok fibers and as a general rule all you really need to do is give your kapok product a light dry tumble to get rid of surface dust and particles. That's it.

Not only does this save energy and wastewater, but it leaves you with more time to spend on more important things.

How about washing?

Accidents happen and sometimes you might need to clean off a stain. Of course you can wash your kapok products in a laundry machine, please see instructions below.

Duvets

We recommend that you wash at 40 degrees (Celsius) using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Stretch while wet. You also need to make sure that the fillers are evenly distributed during the drying process. Take out the duvet every ~30 minutes from the dry tumbler and give each kapok chamber a few knocks to separate and evenly distribute the fibers. Repeat until dry.

Kapok loves sunlight, so a good alternative is also to hang the duvet outside to dry in the sun (and finish off with a ~20min dry tumble to fluff the fibers).

Pillows

Should you really need to wash your kapok pillow, please remove the kapok fillers first and wash the cover separately at 40 degrees (Celsius) using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Dry the cover and refill it with the kapok fillers and give the pillow a spin in the dry tumbler to "fluff" it back into its original shape. Please follow the same instructions for your stroller pillow.

Baby pillows do not come with a zipper, so just wash them at 40 degrees (Celsius) using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Dry it in the dry tumbler and just make sure to take it out every ~20min and use your hands to evenly distribute the kapok fibers.

Mattress Pads

We recommend that you wash at 40 degrees (Celsius) using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Stretch in all directions while wet. You can dry tumble the mattress pad, just take it out every ~20min and make sure that the fibers in the kapok chambers are evenly distributed (use your hands). Or even better, stretch while wet, hang to dry out in the sun and finish with a ~20min in the dry tumbler to "fluff" the kapok fibers.
